At Totally Tots Inc., we believe that learning begins from the very first months of life. Our curriculum is designed to grow alongside each child, providing developmentally appropriate experiences from 3 months through 5 years old.

Our approach combines play-based learning, responsive caregiving, hands-on exploration, intentional teaching, and meaningful relationships. We recognize that children develop at different rates, so our teachers meet children where they are while providing experiences that encourage them to reach their next developmental milestone.

Throughout our program, children develop skills across important areas of early childhood development, including social-emotional development, language and literacy, mathematical thinking, scientific discovery, physical development, creative arts, and social studies.

Our goal is to prepare children not only for kindergarten, but also to help them become confident, curious, independent learners who are excited to discover the world around them.

From First Discoveries to Kindergarten Readiness—We Grow With Your Child.

Infants | 3–12 Months

For our youngest learners, the curriculum begins with relationships. Babies learn through responsive interactions with caring adults and by using their senses to explore the world around them.

Our infant curriculum supports each baby's individual developmental stage through nurturing interactions, floor play, tummy time, music, movement, sensory exploration, books, language-rich conversations, and opportunities to safely reach, grasp, roll, sit, crawl, and explore.

Even at this young age, teachers intentionally introduce early literacy and mathematical thinking through everyday experiences such as counting toes, singing number songs, talking about colors and shapes, reading picture books, and describing what children see and experience.

As infants grow from young babies into more mobile learners, activities grow with them. Teachers introduce experiences that support:

Building secure relationships with trusted caregivers
Early communication through sounds, gestures, and facial expressions
Listening to stories, songs, and conversations
Reaching, grasping, rolling, sitting, crawling, and early movement
Sensory exploration using safe textures, sounds, colors, and objects

Young Toddlers | 12–24 Months

The toddler years are filled with movement, discovery, and rapidly developing communication. Our curriculum gives young toddlers opportunities to explore their environment while developing independence and confidence.

Children learn through repetition, movement, imitation, sensory experiences, songs, simple routines, and hands-on play with real objects they can touch, move, stack, carry, fill, dump, sort, and explore.

Our young toddlers work on skills including:

Using words, gestures, and early phrases to communicate
Naming familiar people and objects
Following simple directions
Listening to short stories and participating in songs and fingerplays
Developing early counting skills
Matching and sorting objects
Exploring colors, shapes, sizes, and quantities
Understanding simple cause and effect
Building fine motor skills through stacking, grasping, and manipulating objects
Strengthening gross motor skills through walking, climbing, dancing, and outdoor play
Learning classroom routines
Beginning to share space and interact with other children
Expressing feelings and developing early independence

Teachers introduce early literacy and math naturally throughout the day through books, songs, conversations, counting activities, shape exploration, matching games, and everyday classroom routines.

Preschool | 3–5 Years

Our preschool curriculum builds upon everything children have learned during their earlier years while preparing them for a successful transition to kindergarten.

Preschool children participate in a combination of whole-group learning, small-group instruction, learning centers, hands-on activities, creative experiences, outdoor play, and independent exploration. Children may be grouped according to age, developmental level, ability, and learning needs so teachers can provide appropriate instruction and support.

Language & Literacy

Children develop early reading and communication skills through:

Letter recognition and letter sounds
Phonological and phonemic awareness activities
Rhyming and word play
Vocabulary development
Story comprehension and sequencing

Our weekly library trips provide children with additional opportunities to explore books, experience their neighborhood library, listen to stories, and develop a lifelong love of reading.

Math is incorporated throughout the day so children understand that numbers and mathematical thinking are part of everyday life.

Physical Development

Daily movement is an important part of our curriculum. Children participate in daily outdoor play and activities that develop balance, coordination, strength, and body awareness. Fine motor experiences help strengthen the small muscles children need for everyday independence and future writing skills.

Older Toddlers | 2-3 Years

Between ages 2 and 3, children experience tremendous growth in language, independence, imagination, and social development. Our curriculum provides opportunities for children to become active participants in their own learning. Children begin participating in more intentional learning experiences while continuing to learn primarily through play and hands-on exploration.

Our curriculum focuses on:

Expanding vocabulary and using longer sentences
Following one- and two-step directions
Listening to and discussing stories
Recognizing familiar pictures, symbols, letters, and sounds
Counting and developing an understanding of quantity
Sorting and matching by color, shape, size, and other characteristics
Recognizing basic shapes and patterns
Exploring early science concepts through observation and experimentation
Developing creativity through art, music, dramatic play, and sensory activities
Strengthening fine motor skills needed for drawing and early writing
Building gross motor coordination
Learning to take turns and participate in group activities
Identifying and expressing emotions
Developing self-help skills and independence
Building friendships and learning how to solve simple social problems

At this stage, teachers begin introducing more structured literacy and math experiences while keeping learning playful, active, and appropriate for young children.
